Changes to the Timetable

There will be no more Thursday night Yoga from the 15th December onwards We will be adding a Junior Spin class starting Tuesday 10th January 4pm - 4.45pm

Have a Healthier Christmas Dinner

Have a Healthier Christmas DinnerWhy not try this tasty healthier alternative to the traditional turkey feast this year. Glazed with a seasonal cranberry apple sauce, this lean pork roast makes an ideal holiday centerpiece. Serve with roasted vegetables and low fat mashed potatoes or with steamed green beans and wild rice.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp ground sage
  • 1/2 tsp ground thyme
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 3-pound boneless top-loin pork roast, trimmed
  • 1 16-ounce can cranberry sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Combine herbs and seasonings to make a rub. Sprinkle mixture over all sides of the meat. Place pork in roasting pan and roast for 1 hour.

Combine cranberry sauce and apple cider in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes until the sauce is slightly thickened. Spoon 1/2 a cup of the sauce over the meat to glaze. Return meat to the oven and roast for a further 30-40 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer registers 155 degrees. Remove pork from the oven and cover with foil. Let stand for 15-20 minutes. The meat will continue to cook and reach a safe 160 degrees while it rests. Serve with remaining sauce on the side.

Open Day Success

The first three days this month saw the Open Weekend and Studio Relaunch. Everyone who came along had free tasters of some of our most popular classes and some new ones too, such as New Body, FlexiBar and KickFit all in aid of Breast Cancer Research. We managed to raise just shy of £100 for the charity and would like to say thank you to eveybody who contributed. Our next Open Weekend is due in January when we are aiming to raise more for our worthy cause.

Our congratulations go to the winners of the Concept 2 Rowing challenge.

Sarah Harker-Freguson claimed women's 500m 1st place with a time of 1:51.3 and Nick Charman took the men's 500m 1st place with 1:35.7.

Both have earnt themselves a £20 Intersport voucher, a free Personal Training voucher and a Peak Fitness Starter Bag.

The women's 250m 1st place goes to Lisa Robson with 57.9 and Ryan Redman won 1st place for the Men's with 41.3. Both will receive a free Personal Training voucher and Peak Fitness Starter Bag. Well done to all those who entered.

Running Club NewsWell Done Runners

A massive well done to all our members that took part in the inaugrual Tonbridge Half Marathon. We had nearly 30 runners from the club taking part in an unseasonably hot Sunday in late September, all achieving fantastic times and plenty of personal bests on the day.

Join the Spin RevolutionWe have added an extra Spin class to the timetable to be held on Fridays at 12:45 - 13:30. If you have not yet tried a Spin class it is an unmatched way to make your fitness goals a reality. With no complicated moves to learn, top-notch instructors and music that begs your legs to pedal, getting into the best shape of your life has never been more fun. Book in at reception to reserve your place.

We have also recently added a Zumba class on Thursdays now at 10.30 - 11.30am taken by Paula.

Update on the new Spin Bikes: Due to Star Trac further delaying the release date on their newest models (so they can work on customer feedback) we are currently expecting the release date of 15th November.

To date we have added Pole Dancing and Flexi Bar classes on the new schedule.

With less than 9 weeks to go until the Tonbridge Half Marathon the Saturday Running Club will be running sections of the route to get participants familiar and ready for the big day. Tonbridge Carnival

Staff would like to thank all those that came to support us at the Tonbridge Carnival where the team performed both Zumba and Body Combat routines through the highstreet with Lee and Trevor dressed head to toe in fetching 80's style lycra!

Spin Bikes Update

Join the Spin RevolutionWe are currently waiting for the makers of the Spin Bikes, Star Trac, to produce their very latest models due for release in September/October. These are one of the most up to date Spin Bikes and we will be one of the first clubs to have these bikes. Star Trac have also updated the Treadmills and added a Coach feature which takes users through a variety of walking and running programs for durations of up to one hour. It's simple to use and easy to follow so why not give it a try!

 

 

Running Club News

Running Club News Well done to everyone that took part in the Bedgebury 10km on 14th May - including first time trail runners Rachel Cudd, Grace Manzotti and Vicky Sawyer . A great day was had by all and will be a must on next years Running Club Schedule.

Join the Spin RevolutionWe are glad to announce that we are currently awaiting the arrival of 8 Brand New Spin Bikes. You will notice improvements in terms of ride comfort, changing settings and ease of use. So book in soon to come and try them out

We will be holding 30 minute "Training Sessions" throughout the week covering various types of training methods such as kettlebells, stability balls, resistance bands and bodyweight exercises to improve core stability, overall strength, power, endurance etc. These will be held on the gym floor stretching area from Monday 6th - 10th June.

Finally a massive well done to our studio co-ordinator Lucy Maclean on giving birth to her baby boy. Jacob Callum Maclean weighed in at a healthy 8 pounds 4 ounces and both mother and child are doing very well and getting some much needed rest. Our best wishes are with her and her new family

Running Club News

Running Club NewsA big well done to all those who took part in the Paddock Wood Half Marathon on Sunday 27th March! A brilliant effort by everyone, including Maria Heslop who was placed second in the all female category. Also well done to Russell Taylor and Louise Jeffery who completed the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 10th April. Congratulations to all our members who were running in the London Marathon on Sunday. We look forward to hearing how it went.

Upcoming runs with the club include Bedgebury 10km in May and the Tonbridge Half Marathon in September. For more details on these races or if you are aware of any other running events please speak to Trevor or Lee.
